Wallpit

Welcome to the arena.

A turn-based multiplayer strategy board game: three tiles per move, a wall behind every step, and a single goal, block or capture your opponent.

The game

The board closes in with every step you take

The rules come down to three things.

01

Three tiles per turn

Your character moves exactly three tiles, in any direction you choose.

02

A wall with every step

The tile you leave closes up behind you. The board becomes a maze.

03

Block or capture

Trap your opponent until they cannot move, or land on their tile.

Game modes

Three ways to play

From the founding rules to fully custom matches, each mode has its own flavor, and its own ranking.

1v1 · Ranked

Classic

The pure rules: three tiles per turn, a wall behind you, block or capture your opponent. Ranked 1v1 matches, plus a mode against the computer to practice.

Spells & orbs · Ranked

Tactic

Pick one of ten classes, each with two unique spells. Grab the orbs that appear on the board to unleash your powers. Dedicated Elo ranking.

2 to 4 players

Custom

Build the match you want: board from 10×10 to 20×20, up to 4 players in teams or free-for-all, powers and rules à la carte. Unranked, just for fun.

Climb from Styrofoam to Rampart

Classic and Tactic each have their own Elo ranking. Everyone starts at 1200. The rest is up to your walls.

Classes

Ten classes, twenty spells

Each class brings a different way of reading the board: controlling walls, bending teleporters, surviving an impossible spot or flipping the match at the last moment. Grab an orb to unleash its two spells.

The board

A maze you build without meaning to (or not)

In Wallpit, nobody places walls by hand: your moves create them. The board closes in turn after turn, until only one path remains, or none.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Where can I play Wallpit?+

Wallpit runs straight in your browser, and a mobile app is also available. No installation is needed to play on the web.

How many players can face off?+

Classic and Tactic modes are played 1v1. Custom mode allows up to 4 players, in teams or free-for-all. You can also practice solo against the computer in Classic mode.

How long does a match last?+

Around ten minutes on average. Online, each player has a 5-minute clock with 3 seconds added per move, just like in chess.

Is it hard to learn?+

The rules take minutes: move three tiles, a wall rises behind you, block or capture your opponent. A built-in tutorial walks you through your first match step by step.

What does Tactic mode change?+

Each player picks one of ten classes, each with two unique spells. Orbs appear on the board: grab one to cast a spell. Enough to flip a match that looked lost.

How does the ranking work?+

Each ranked mode (Classic and Tactic) has its own Elo ranking. Everyone starts at 1200 points and climbs through five ranks: Styrofoam, Plywood, Load-Bearing Wall, Concrete and Rampart.
